Artist’s Statement

I’m inspired by  human beings.  Fascinated by the human body’s movements, expressions, strength and grace.
The major themes in my work are  intimate portraits that capture raw human emotions and emerge out of abstract composition.

Each painting has been layered with multiple acrylic and oil pigments, then etched, carved and varnished to achieve subtle depth and surface luminosity.

With color, texture and medium I try to create images that merge the abstract and the figurative, the order and chaos, shade and light. I want to celebrate the human, the marks people make on the world.
